Oakhill Garden Center, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, is pleased to announce that it is expanding its operations with the introduction of new product and service offerings.

We are a growing, creative and  team focused on helping people create stylish and sustainable outdoor living environments. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the establishment of a retail garden center, and as such, the Company is seeking creative, energetic, customer-focused and operations-minded individuals to join Oakhill Garden Center.

Summary

To sell the vision & solution to customers with landscape needs. Appropriately solve landscape problems consistent with customer requirements and budget. Provide professional computer-generated planting plans and plant lists. Work is seasonal in nature, and hours may be modified to reflect seasonal demand and weather conditions.

Primary Duties: 

• Assist customers with in-store design needs, 30-90 minute in-store designs.
• Provide at-home designs for residential customers.
• Be familiar with plant material and product lines carried within the store and communicate accurate information about plant care and selection to customers.
• Accurately communicate policies about planting, product returns, discounts and sale material.
• Help customers with plant and product selection.

Secondary Duties: 

• Sell / promote all departments' merchandise and services.
• Provide follow up to design customers in future visits to store.

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:

General Requirements: 

• Minimum two years’ landscape design experience.
• Ability to work as a team player with other members of organization.
• Fluency in a CAD-based design program.
• Competency in landscape design, particularly plant material, plant environment and basics of hardscape.
• Ability to design according to customers’ needs and personal style with material available within the store.
• A sense of color and creativity with the use of woody ornamentals, perennials, and annuals
• Knowledge of many varieties of shrubs, trees and perennials. and their uses
• Good interpersonal skills for appropriate customer interaction.
• Sufficient administrative skills to keep track of customer paperwork, and follow reporting procedures.
• Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Degree in landscape design and/or contracting a plus.
